• flightComputer for Nokia

Just a follow up on all things FlightComputer mobile App which I’ve developed with Qt.

Since last week I am battling Nokia Ovi QA team and publisher web interface. Their instructions for publishing for Maemo platform are vague and whenever I submitted my app they returned it with cosmetics:

    • deb categories – which they do not state clearly and want user/hidden
    • deb file names – which they request to have appname-version.deb and do not accept any dots except the one before deb ( like app-1.1.1.deb is a NO ;  app-1-1-1.deb is OK ) when their own development platform produces it with dots.
    • window name has to be exactly the same as application name , what if app will have multiple windows ??

Also in the news, I have tested early flightComputer application with Nokia 5230 touch screen Symbian s60 5th edition phone and it does work as you can see on attached picture.flightcomputer on 5230 What is interesting, is that numeric entry boxes are looking better than on N900, however dials look a bit old school.
I have requested to test it also on E71 , but didn’t hear anything.
I was trying to test it on more Nokia phones  including the 5800 series and C6 but handsets were unusable. Same goes for the prototype of N8 which I had at hand, it was failing Qt installation without any reason.

However it looks , I will be trying to get this application also shipped with Nokia Ovi for Symbian , they have special category for Symbian Qt apps in the store, so, hopefully it will be available to all recent S60’s .

    This is just a beginning…
